This year marks a milestone that fills us with tremendous gratitude—All Seasons Wild Bird Store is celebrating 35 years of serving backyard bird lovers across the Twin Cities. When we look back on the journey, what stands out most isn’t the stores, the products, or even the birds themselves. It’s the people. Our customers have made this community of backyard birding what it is today, and we are deeply thankful for the support you’ve shown our family business.
From One Store to Six Locations
Our story began in 1991, when we purchased the Bloomington Wild Bird Store from Minnesota Greenery, a garden center company that had started the first wild bird store concept in White Bear Lake
in 1984. Not long after, we acquired that original White Bear Lake store and began building what would become All Seasons Wild Bird Store. Over the years we expanded to locations throughout the metro, launched our website and online store, and most recently welcomed a new community of bird lovers through the acquisition of Kelsey’s Wild Bird Store in North Oaks. Through all those changes, our mission has remained the same: helping people experience the joy
of birds right outside their windows.
The Story Behind Joe’s Mix
One of the most enduring parts of our story is Joe’s Mix, our flagship bird seed blend. Years ago, an Irishman named Joe Murphy began mixing seed by hand in a 55-gallon drum at a small garden center south of Saint Paul, experimenting until he created a blend that birds simply couldn’t resist. Customers soon discovered Joe’s special mix and began taking it home, and before long people were traveling from all around to buy it. Joe later managed one of the first All Seasons Wild Bird Store locations in White Bear Lake, and his famous blend continues to attract birds—and customers—to this day.
Celebrate With Us: June 15–27
To celebrate this milestone with the community that made it possible, we’re hosting a 35th Anniversary Celebration from June 15–27 at all of our stores. During the celebration you can register for gift card drawings, enjoy live raptor presentations, and take advantage of special anniversary savings. Of course, our wonderful staff will be on hand to share bird feeding advice, answer questions, and help you discover new ways to enjoy the birds in your backyard.
